What message would you convey to your younger self?

As we traverse the journey of life, the milestones we achieve are often derived from a mix of reflection and anticipation.

Turning a new age is a significant moment to look back and appreciate the foundation laid by our younger selves. A new age is more than just a number; it is a reflection of growth, endurance and the promise of what lies ahead.

Here is a message to appreciate our young version. From it, we are fueled to be our better version, acknowledging our journey; The struggles and triumphs, that shape who we are today!

Dear Younger Self,

It's truly remarkable how far you have come. Despite the countless challenges, feeling of loneliness and the many wrong turns you took, you persevered and purposed to right the wrongs.

The journey has been an array of hills, mountains and valleys, each experience adding to the richness of your story.

There were sleepless nights, moments of tears and times when giving up seemed like the only option. Yet, here you are, still standing, still fighting!

The strength you have shown in those dark moments is nothing short of extraordinary. Thank you for not giving up on yourself, even when the odds were stacked against you.

For the opportunities you encountered that seemed enticing yet came with strings attached, you had the wisdom to discern and the courage to let them go. That wisdom has been a guiding light, steering you towards a path of integrity and authenticity. I'm proud of you for that!

While you may not be where you envisioned, trust that you set the right foundation for me, your older self. Every opportunity you seized, every step you took, brought you closer to your dreams.

I promise you that I will continue to embrace new opportunities with much more vigour and determination.

I appreciate you for these battles you won: overcoming self-pity, imposter syndrome and low self-esteem. You have invested in knowledge, valued connections and kept the faith. Your relentless pursuit of self-improvement, seeing the positive in every situation and using introspection as a tool for growth has been inspiring!

Today, I forgive you for the shortfalls; The impulsive decisions, procrastination, laziness, negative self-talk, opportunities missed and actions taken in ignorance. I forgive you for feeling inadequate and for thinking you were doing too much.

Today, I embrace the lessons learned and move forward with a heart full of hope.

Looking ahead, I envision the next ten years with confidence, staying true to my identity and approaching life with zeal. I now have the capability to achieve everything you have ever dreamed of; the ball is in my hands.

In the next five years, I aspire to;

  • Develop a deeper sense of purpose and spiritual connection.
  • Build and nurture meaningful relationships.
  • Pursue continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Strive for a healthy work-life balance.
  • Invest in personal well-being and mental health.
  • Contribute positively to my community and society.
  • Set and achieve ambitious personal and professional goals.
  • Invest in financial independence

Above all, thank you, for giving me the chance to hope! I am eternally grateful to you.

Yours truly,

Older self!

The Lord bless you and keep you, The Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; The Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace. (Numbers 6:24-26)
